Linda Lanier, MD
Dr. Lanier joined the faculty of the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1989 and has served within the Shands Healthcare System since that time. She is Board Certified in Radiology and specialized in Mammography and Body Imaging. She has served in a variety of administrative capacities for the College of Medicine and has won numerous teaching awards for her courses in diagnostic imaging. Dr. Lanier is an advocate of computer assisted instruction and an author of the award winning Radiologic Anatomy CD-ROM/Web site. She previously worked as Executive Producer of the "Integrated Medical Curriculum" published by Gold Standard Multimedia, producing and publishing several web-based textbooks used by medical schools nationally and internationally. Dr. Lanier recently took the position of Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Shands at AGH.
Chris Sistrom, MD
Dr. Sistrom obtained a BS degree in Computer Science at University of Oregon in 1980. His MD degree was from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1984. After an internal medicine internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, Oregon he received training in diagnostic radiology at University of Virginia, finishing residency in 1989. He stayed on faculty at UVA becoming chief of ultrasound as well as being appointed assistant professor in radiology and obstetrics and gynecology. After fellowship training in interventional radiology at Medical University of South Carolina he entered private practice radiology in 1994. Since 1999, he has been assistant professor of radiology at University of Florida with clinical work in body imaging. Dr. Sistrom recently obtained an MPH degree in epidemiology with minor in biostatistics (summer 2003). His thesis topic for the masters degree concerned information transfer from free text versus structured radiology reports. He will continue his studies with goal of PhD in health services research from University of Florida. In 2002, he was appointed as Associate Chair for Research in the Radiology Department. In this role, he provides informatics and statistical support for all clinical research done in the Radiology Department.
Richard Rathe, MD
Dr. Rathe joined the University of Florida in 1990 to develop the Office
of Medical Informatics for the College of Medicine. Prior to his arrival,
he completed a two year informatics fellowship at the Harvard
School of Public Health. He is board certified in Family Practice and holds
a joint appointment with the Department
of Community Health and Family Medicine. From 1990 to 1996 he directed the
development of the Online
Medical Record (OLMR) for the Shands Teaching Hospital. His teaching responsibilities
include: Basic Clinical
Skills, course director 1995 - 2003; clinical instructor during the 3rd year
Family Medicine clerkship; and Introduction to Medical Informatics, senior elective,
1996 - present. In 2000 the college established an Online Testing Center under his supervision. In 1998 he was appointed the Associate Dean for Information Technology. Since that time he has worked to improve information services of all types for students, faculty, and patients of the College of Medicine. His research interests include computer-based evaluation and physician/patient communication.
